It is summer already, and people are rushing from the office to enjoy the sun and outdoors. According to the stats, people are less productive during the summer for a bunch of reasons. Let’s review several reasons for that.

1. Summer time distractions.

Awesome weather is an obvious reason for productivity decline: looking out of the window to see the sun you are not enjoying makes people distract more. Seeing other people posting pictures from vacation is another reason for decreased productivity.

2. Office temperature

It’s either too hot or too cold in the office and people cannot feel comfortable enough to concentrate on their tasks. It is a proven fact that when it is too hot, our brain is slowing down. On the other hand, people who are cold also lose concentration. A Cornell University study that took place in an insurance office found that when temperatures were low, employees committed 44% more typing errors than when the office had a warm comfort temperature.

3. Lack of vacation

When people haven’t been on vacation for a long time, it shows more. According to Grasshopper, 56% of employees already need a vacation by summer, and 44% of employees pretend they do not need a vacation. They look at the photos of others on vacation and are getting distracted and concerned.

Many employees prefer to start and leave earlier. However, still the declined productivity results in staying up late to complete paperwork. How many times have you stayed late after work to complete reports or other paperwork? Summer is here, so grab your bike or swimsuit or whatever and enjoy the sun! Office paperwork should not take after-hours. Snappii has created its DocuMate Scanner app to help improve your productivity. Scan, sign and share documents. After work, use the Snappii DocuMate Scanner app to take memorable photos and find them later.
